“There were 2 local supermarkets within walking distance and an amazing Taverna where the food was excellent. There was also a cafe bar 2 mins walk away. for snacks and drinks. We had cars so tended to drive during the day and then use taxis at night. The taxi fares did vary so be careful to check the price at the start. Journey to Rethymnon Old town should cost around 10-12 euros. There is also a local bus service into town.

Rethymnon was a gorgeous place, lots of restaurants, shops and tavernas. The food was fantastic, we didn't have a bad meal in two weeks. There is a difference in prize depending on where you eat, expect to pay more on the harbour than in the little streets. Taverna Christos near the villa was very good value and half the price of some of the restaurants in the town.

The best beach we found was Livadi in Bali which was about a 30 min drive from the villa, however, Rethymnon beach was also great. All have watersports, beachside cafes and facilities.

If you get chance go to the Kourkoulou Winery, it is about 30 mins drive from the villa. The food and wine tasting was a great experience and good value at 15 euros each.

The greek people were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. We particularly enjoyed the free deserts and raki after every meal!”
